I love visiting the Decorative Center of
Houston, especially during the spring market.
This year they had fabulous designers presenting
the latest trends and ideas for high-end
design. I enjoyed the lectures and showroom
visits and wanted to share some of the ideas
with you!
Hollywood style with deco lines, mirrored
and metallic surfaces and old school glamour
is back -- think black and white movies
from the 40's.
TV is also a big influence, remember the
homes of the Beverly Hillbillies, I Love
Lucy and the Brady Bunch? All of those trends
are being reinvented in design today.
Wild game trophies are being used, often
juxtaposed with elegant accessories like
mirrors and sconces . The French mount style
(horns only) often is the most elegant option.
So even the ranch can also be glamorous!
I can't wait to implement some of these
ideas so let me know if you ready for a
little more glamour in your interiors!

 Change
the matting on your artwork -- We often
find it's the color of the mat, not the
frame, that dates a picture. Change the
look of the piece by swapping out a light-color
mat for a dark one or vice versa. Or choose
a new color of mat and use the art in a
different room. This will have dramatic
effects! |

 Frame
Choices -- metal or wood?
Frame art in metal frames to strengthen
the commitment between you and a partner.
The metal element is associated with permanence
and stability. For best results, frame two
pictures in matching frames.
Frame art in wooden frames to promote growth,
so use this cure to increase loving feelings
in an existing relationship or to attract
a new partner. Again, two pictures in matching
frames works best. |
